MIYAWAKI FORESTS

  Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki's method of planting more saplings in less space is being set up on interested public and private school and college campuses in the normal planting method.

  These mini forests are often planted with fruit trees that birds love to eat.

  Mini forests are being set up in public places in villages through Girama VANAM organizations. Guidance on setting up of shrubs is being provided to various organizations across Tamil Nadu.

 It is noteworthy that 42 mini forests have been set up by the VANAM Voluntary Organization at various places in all over Tamilnadu after Gaja cyclone.
